Astronomy is one of the most rewarding hobbies I've ever found. There are some incredible objects in the sky that you can see with almost any telescope they make these days. If you're willing to spend the time (and a little cheese), you can make your own from a kit. My next project is going to be a 28" Truss Dobsonian with CCD. Here's one that I found that looks pretty close to what I have in mind to build. http://www.astromart.com/classifieds...fied_id=367719

I believe that I can build it from kit parts for about $3000. I've always wanted one that I could connect to a computer.

Alex

Now that would be cool. Scan the night sky with a click of the mouse.

Hi Alex!

You're quite right about astronomy. I was listening to an astronomer from The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, who was a guest on a radio call in show today, and his enthusiasm for this limitless field was incredible.

He mentioned these new telescopes that one can connect to their computers, to explore the universe from inside the comfort of their homes.

He also mentioned how the younger generations of urban dwellers are deprived of watching the wondrous star filled skies due to "light pollution". This is truly a sad fact of our modern day life.

I hope you are successful in building your telescope.

Cheers!

David

Saw Venus and Jupiter close together in the western twilight sky a few days ago.
Gone now I think.
