Hello from GA
Hello I'm David I've been lurking and learning on here for awhile now. I figured now was a good time to do an intro. I've learned a lot by just reading posts. I've finally gotten my first knives done and have started on the next batch. Thanks in advance for the help on future questions to come.

David,
Welcome, I'm new at this too and can attest the chat room is very helpful. Ray and Rob get off topic every once in a while giving each other grief but overall it's knife related. __________________ Mark |

Hey David, welcome to a great place for novices, newbies, beginners, etc. Lot of good knowledge shared here all the time. Ray host's one heck of a forum, so don't hesitate to jump in and ask questions or get advice.
What part of GA? Lot of Dawgs here, and one of us is probably close by. Also invite you to visit the Georgia Guild Forum further down here on KNF for updates on meetings and events that you are welcome to attend and meet other knifemakers. Enjoy yourself. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

Aw, come on Ricky! We all know you're on step 5 of Closet Lurkers Anon.
He does have a point though, you will get more out of interaction than lurking David. Such as...you are about 15 min. up the road from me (less than 2 miles from the new Cabela's). There are 9 - 10 knifemakers this side of Atlanta. Most less than 20 miles from me. Add another 15 miles and the number almost 3X's. Yeah, most are beginners & hobbiest, but there are several quality makers as well. Have to kick the chocks out and let her roll this way sometime. I'm not an stock removalist per say (we all do some to some extent), prefer working with fire & hammer, but knifemaking is knifemaking. pm me your email and we see if we can slot some visit/talk time. __________________ Carl Rechsteiner, Bladesmith Georgia Custom Knifemakers Guild, Charter Member Knifemakers Guild, voting member Registered Master Artist - GA Council for the Arts C Rex Custom Knives Blade Show Table 6-H |

I've recently finished my first few knives. They are far from perfect or top quality. I'm still happy with them. I've got a small space to work in and don't always have to best tools for the job. I do feel now I can contribute some from my experiences.
I've always felt that I didn't have much to add. I've had a lot of the same questions as other mewbes. I've found searching has answered most of my questions. Perhaps a thanks is in order for having so much good/free info in one friendly place. |

David, I also wonder what part of Georgia you're in. I'm north of Atlanta and in the process of building a robust shop to work in.

Welcome David, i'm also from the peach state just south of you on the Heard and Carroll Co. line. I'm a newbie as well. I don't get a chance to tinker and get on here as much as i'd like but there is a lot of knowledge on this site. Crex I really wanted to make it to the hammer-in last year but couldn't. I've got it marked on the calendar for this year so Lord willing i'll be able to make the drive up.
