Butch,

Any steel you can heat treat properly is OK .

For those who have little or no previous experience heat treating a blade please read through the Stick thread on KITH Preparation Class - Heat Treating. There's more to it than just heat it up and dunk it in oil and this is your chance to learn to do it right. Of course, you can send your blade out to have the heat treatment done professionally if you want you should do it yourself if you can ...

Looks good, Ricky, even the rough finish along the spine and ricasso. A little primitive without looking unfinished.

I'd better make a start or I'll be caught doing it at the last minute.

Doug

Ricky,

We need a picture for the official KITH page (which I will start when I get your picture). Take a pic of the knife in a straight horizontal format against a plain background. Include a ruler in the pic and also the sheath. Then either email the pic to me or post it here.

To Everyone Else: Ricky is going away on business very soon and won't be back for a while which is why he rushed to get his KITH entry done. By all means, get started on your own entry but remember that the KITH will run until Halloween ....

Halloween? Good grief. I get back the end of August. Why did I rush. Lol.

Thanks, yes the photos we're taken in a light box with my galaxy s6. It does a decent job if the lighting is right.
