Not too long ago someone posted that he read the fine print on a package of dust masks and read a disclaimer that they were not intended to to block dust particles. Go figure-and wear a respirator.

I have an MCU-2 but that thing would be a beast to wear for more than a few hours

Personally, I just use a US Navy gas mask. Everything is filtered out when you breath, and the one I use gives you an excellent view of what your working on and the area around you, plus the front has a second layer of protection, so you dont get too many bad scratches. And that it was only 5 bucks was nice too
