Layers of Kaowool??
Okay, got all the parts laid out for my propane forge. I'm going to coat it with a high temp fire clay to help keep the loose fibers down. The forge body is fairly small 10"circumference x 11" long. I'm going to use 1 Reil style burner. Should I go with 1 or 2 layers of 1" kaowool? I'd like to use it inside sometimes so the 2 layers would cut down on radiant heat, but will it make the forge more effective?
Thanks in advance. Will |

3" all around is a good rule of thumb.
The heat is accumulated in the sides. Without enough wool to hold the heat in, it just blows out all that energy in heat. |
