Finishing Stabilized Wood

I picked up some Alabama Damascus blade blanks and some stabilized Spalted Maple scale material at the Chesapeake Knife Show. I have never used stablized wood. I resawed the wood and it machined like plastic. When sanding to remove the bandsaw marks, the wood seemed to polish. I'm thinking that this wood will not need or take any finish. Am I correct?

You got it. The stabilization process basically fills all of the voids so stains won't soak in and no need to seal it with anything. I usually sand to about 600 and hit it with the buffer.

Following your advice, I sanded to 1000 and buffed with Pink Scratchless. Look at how it turned out.

That one turned out really nice. Also, Brad's Damascus is super as well I have been using his damascus since he first started up. Good friend and he stands behind his work as well.

Nice job Bill! I like the contrast of the dark damascus and the light scales. The maple has some nice figuring, but not too busy. Great package.
