Smile LIGHTFIGHTER "Compact"

Made this to take to the Knife Show in May this year...

Its a little shorter than my usual fighters. The blade is forged 1084 - 6-3/4inches, sort-of Spanish notch, clay-backed hardening, straight satin hand rubbed finish. Forge-blacked guard, Buffalo-horn-look spacer and Olive Wood handle - Slab-sided like all my "Lightfighters" with ??eucalypt leaf cast pewter pieces inset into each side. Kinda like a menuki. BTW, I didn't make them...

Unfortunately the rather interesting hamon doesn't show up in photos (again!!). The second shot gives you an idea - can sort of just make it out. There are 2 hamons - one wavy up nearer the spine and a straight line that follows the edge contour.

What do you guys think ? Thanks for looking. Jason.

Nice piece! I like the overall shape, it loks verry sturdy.
But, Those look like feathers to me, not leaves.

Later,
Gary

P.s. What kind of coins are those??- they look interesting.

GDay Gary, thanks ! Feathers ?? - Looked again and I think you're right ! ... the label on the container in the shop did say "gum-leaves." The main reason I chose them is actually because I thought the slinky shape matched the assymetric guards I seem to be making quite a few of, this year.

Those coins are old Aussie penny pieces I picked up at an antique store some time ago. I know nothing about coins. The markings on these are from 1943 to 1964. I don't know of their value, but I bought them specifically for photo setups.

Thanks again, Jason.
