I knew it would happen sooner or later!

"Remember kids, I'm a professional! Don't try this at home!"
We spend so much time trying how to take a good photograph that we often forget what we are shooting. Be careful.
I'm posting this because Roxie dared me. She is still giving me a hard time about last Thursday. Nine stiches in the emergency room. Back again last Sat. for the infection. Back again on Tues. only to be sent to another doctor. They took the stiches out and re-opened the cut trying to clean out the infection. All in all, a lesson learned the hard way. Our "subjects" are sharp.

Unhappy Ugghh....

Ouch. Like in motorcycles--it's not *if* you are going to crash, it's *when*.

Feed us the details of the mishap. Where did you lapse?

Coop

As with a lot of us, I do a lot of my work on the floor. So there is often several knives sitting on the floor. I had just gotten a new fixed blade in the mail. I opened the package and set the box on the floor with the knife on top. About that time, Roxie called me for dinner. I turned and took two steps. The left foot went out front, the right foot hit the butt of the knife. This sent it sliding across the box and into my left ankle. OUCH!!! Talk about making a mess!
I now have a set aside area for any blade or firearm. The only time I'll move a knife from this "corral" will be to put it into the photo set-up.
Lessons learned the hard way. But most accidents are the result of a split moment of stupidity.

Terrill - How 'bout a picture? (sorry, just kidding)
I appreciate the warning. It could've been me, on any number of occasions. I'd be fooling myself if I thought otherwise. I like your idea of a 'corral' or safety zone - it's a seriously good idea. Hope you heal fast!

I think it was Groucho Marx that said, "Comedy is when you see a guy walking down the street and he slips on a banana peel and falls down. Tragedy is when I slip and fall down."

A good friend of mine used to run a crew that did emissions testing on power plant stacks. He had a young guy on his crew that kept getting hurt - falling down steps, grabbing a red-hot steel probe, etc. One of the clueless VPs suggested that my friend send this guy for training. I joked with him that we could have a kindergarten teacher come in and remind him not to run with sharp objects and to give him blunt sissors, etc. Two days later, my friend saw me and jumped all over me, claiming that I had jinxed the guy. Turned out that he went to fetch some sissors for someone, was running with them, and, yes, ran the pointy end into his hand.

Good luck in your recovery, Terrill, and thanks for the warning!

You have given a whole new meaning to the old adage: "A stitch in time saves nine".

Be careful all you knife nuts out there.

Cheers!

David
