Here is a little striker knife I made. The blade is forged from file steel. The back is left "dead hard" for service as a fire striker, the edge and "rat tails" are differentially tempered, using a small propane torch. I file finished it before doing the rat tail scrolls. To keep the piece from scaling up and loosing the file marks, I created a reducing atmosphere inside a pipe. The edge guard and hardware are fine silver. The edge guard itself, is an anticlastic raising, formed from a single sheet of silver. expage.com/taigoo |
