Question Chemical Etch Stencils

Is there a quick, cheap, and dirty substitute for the etching paper. I have a Martronics and was wondering if anyone has found an alternative. Thanks all.

Yeah, here's quick, cheap, and dirty:

Get something called asphaultum resist. It's a gooey tar that is used in art for making etchings. Paint it on and dry it with a hairdryer. Then take a very fineline scribe and hand draw your logo in. Etch as normal with your Martronics.

It'll give you the ugly, crappy etch you have asked for until you get real good at it.

truely bargin basement stencils

one step up in the cheap department...

this one requires your toner based laserprinter...

A)cheap
you can go out and buy the "expensive" special iron down stencil paper to run thru the printer and etch w/acid
or
B) true cheap...
get a sheet of the Avery labels that you run thru the printer to make mailing labels, and peel off all the stickers and throw them away. What you want is the waxy base material. use it the same as the "expensive" material above.
i.e make your image be a negative and a mirror image of what you want etched, iron onto blade and etch.

works much better than you would think, and you can "borrow" the labels from the office

Those are some great ideas so far. Has anyone tried waxpaper?
