Handle design.
So, I am working on a skinner for a friend of mine, and while I wait to see how my HT kith came out, I have been working a a handle design. Material, I think, will be a piece of ,moose antler for the bolster part and then my orange micarta for the back part. This pic shows a pattern I made up and drilled for the cross pattern in the bolster. Pins will be 1/16" silver. I figured if I could build a pattern with nice straight holes to use as a guide to drill the antler and the tang.
Any better Idea's? |

What ever design you decide on for this knife will be fine as long as it is what you want. Just make sure that your knife is sitting flat when you drill all of those holes for the cross. I might recomend either clamping, or lightly gluing your two pieces of boulster together when you drill them, otherwise your pins could go thru on an angle and you will have a hard time getting them to line up. It's a neat design that you've come up with, there is no right or wrong, but I have found that making knives with lots of little pins is a pain in the butt, although they do look cool if you can get them all lined up straight. good luck!!!
