Knife #7 prototype"The Gooch"recurve

Well it has been some time since I have posted any of my work
this is one of 5 different knife styles I have been working on
for my up and coming web page.
The knife is D2E with a hand rubbed satin finish.
it has G10 scales
the OVAL is 8 1/2 let me know what you think
Nathan

Nathan, it has been awhile.Nice design and execution. The only thing I see that I would change is to radius your handle a little more for comfort.I tend to like fatter handles too but try to cut down on the sharp corners. As an Industrial mechanic I use tools all day and 99% of my tools are somewhat boxy in appearance but feel great in my hand all day.Keep up the good work.Dave

I am looking for input,I will be tweaking it some
to get the bugs out.The handle feels very good in the
hand the scales are low profiled for less mass
I still have some testing to do and all the input I get
good or bad will help me make a better knife maker in
the long run
thanks Nathan

That's a cool looking knife Nathan! When are you going to make the folding version?

I like it. A lot. That grind line is quite distinct. If I may say so, even bizarre !!

Is it hollow or flat ground ? I've done grinds like that by doing a distal tapered grind technique without going past the spine - thats what it would look like.

I ditto whats been said about the handle contours. If you are going to test it, any obvious ergonomics issues will probbably become obvious anyhow.

Overall - I'd go ahead and make more of that design, if I were you. Nice one. Jason.

It is a hollow grind, that is the only type grind I do.
I am glade you see the difference in it.I am trying to
work outside the box.this knife was a proto to see
what type of input I get.On tweaking the design some
were do you think it should be touched up at
at the rear of the handle or in the finger grove
the part in front of the finger grove is not sharp
it is rounded, the pictures really don't show it well
any input that will make it a better knife I am open
to hear what anyone has to say.
Thanks for the kind words,It makes me want to press
forword and take it to another level.
Thanks

Nathan, That is a nice design, and good execution, Your grind lines are crisp as usual. How much does it weigh and where is the balance point?

I am not sure about the weight but it is light, the balance point is on the index finger

Cool

nice one, nathan. aught to be a real slicer. i'm with the crowd here in that i prefer a tall oval shaped handle. but as you said, testing will show if you get any hot spots with this design.
thanx

When you mean a tall oval handle are you refuring to the shape of the handle in the back,or how the scales are shaped? If I can get ahold on this I will reshape the handle on the next one
any input is good.
