Little money saving trick
Well we are always trying to figure out how to save a buck or two. I stumbled on to one this weekend. Needing to change the Pyro glass liner on my flat platen. I realized I did not have a spare piece of the now expensive Pyro glass. Went to the computer and found out with shipping looking at $25.00. And then the size I needed I out of stock. So I thought since I put my platen liner on with Accru-glass. Just heat it up a little and then turn the liner over and re glue to the other side. So I laid the platen steel side on the wood stove for about five minutes and the liner slid right off. Of course I was wearing gloves I then reglued the worn side of the liner to the steel platen and have a nice crisp new liner to work on.

Nice trick. My liner has been on the machine ever since Ellis Knifeworks invented them.
It has grooves worn into it that load up with glue from the belt splices. |

Thanks, Bing, for sharing that! Wonder if that trick would work on pulling wood handles off knives instead of grinding them off

I'm going to have to keep this one in mind-got a chip on the side of mine after being an idiot with some non-knife making grinding... Course I'll have to find someone with a wood stove .
