Engravers will do anything for a buck!
Tim is back from his walk-about and Ron is doing Colt barrels.
I'm going to do a walk about in the next couple of days....as soon as all the Atlanta hunters get out of the woods. In the mean time I finished these.....Engraving for me runs from Knives, Guns,Bracelets to Belt buckles............ I carved the original belt buckle out of wax and through the lost wax method cast the original out of Sterling.....from that we made a rubber mold. Now we can do as many as we please. The engraving is done after the casting, of course. The raised flowers are 22k gold and mechanically attached. The initials are the same, 22k gold and pinned and soldered. If you have any questions.....drop me a line. Jim |

Jim,
Beautiful and well executed as usual. Possibly you could share your approach to lost-wax casting in a future tutorial? (hint, hint!) Hope you enjoy your walkabout as much as I did mine. Tim |

You folks are to nice. We engravers, knifemakers and craft-art folks are the luckiest people on earth. We get to take what nature has provided and put it all together to create something.
Thank God we all know how to appreciate what we do...and tell others about it. I have a project coming up in a month or two which will involve a little silver casting. I will at that time try to take some photos and include them in a special tutorial. Once you know this process you can create alot of interesting things and the capicity to duplicate your project over and over. I do not have the tools to do the casting so I have this done by a friend of mine. I do the carving of the wax with small tools. The wax I use can actually be engraved and cast with the engraving. The detail I can get in the wax with a sharp engraver is about as good as I can get in the steel or silver. I will discuss all of this in the afore-mention tutorial coming up. Ron I would love to have you come down and visit......I am sure you have much more to offer me than I you. What would be nice would be to have a couple of those interested in engraving come down too. Maybe a week-end siminar or something...... Maybe we could get Tim to do another walk-about......and join us. Something to think about. Thanks for all the ego builders............ Jim |

Jim,
I'm on the list for tableholders at the Blade Show next year... and whether or not there's avail. space, Kelly and I are planning the trip anyways. Can you suggest motels in your area... near your place?....as we'll drive instead of fly this time. Thanks for hosting this opportunity Jim! Tim |

Nothing but pure pleasure to have all you folks drop by..... I will get all the information on Motels and see about some special rates.... Madison, Ga. is a very small town in middle Northeast Georgia...population 3000. I live just outside of town on 20 acres most of which is swamp. The place is beautiful in the spring just about the time of the Atlanta Show. I will get the information and get it to you............ Jim |
