Our own Nick Wheeler

This one is too nice not to share. With a knife like this, I'll be playing for a few days.

Re: Absolutely beautiful!

Wow, you guys sure know how to make a guy feel good! Thank you all very much for the kind comments, it is truly appreciated!!!

Terrill Hoffman is an ARTIST! Plain and simple...look at how he set that up, what an eye.

This dagger was at the Eugene show, but I made quite a few minor changes before sending it to Terrill.

I'm sorry but I really don't know how much time I have in this knife. About 10 times as much as the pro's that know what they're doing!

It has a nine inch ATS-34 blade, heat treated by Paul Bos, hand sanded to 600 grit. All the fittings are 416 stainless (including the fileworked spacers that are supposed to look like twisted wire), the handle and thick spacers are stabilized Oosic (W.S.S.Intl.), and the twisted wire is from Crafts Galore

In Eugene it had fine silver wire on it from Rio Grande, but it was too contrasting with the other colors and I had totally screwed up the twist. So I stipped that and did it over with different wire (what a difference using a drill to twist the wire makes!).

I had only sanded the oosic to 1200 grit, but I bought some polishing paper and it now has a much better depth than before. (I buffed it originally and it was too plastic-looking).

This thing was kind of a bear since I didn't use a lathe at all. There was a lot of filing for things like the spacers and pommel.

My web-site is being built by my friend and fellow knifemaker Dave Evans and should be up and ready for viewing next week.

Thanks again guys, I very deeply respect the opinions of all you guys that hang around here!!! (Bob, I better check with Webster on "agog" )

Nick
