Foot Switch?

How does a foot switch work (how do you install them) I have a variable speed disc and horizontal belt sander and I would like to hook them up to a foot switch. both use the same variable speed drive.

thanks
Ted

Most foot switches have Norm. open, Norm. closed and common terminals. You would use the norm. open and common terminals. On the drive end, you need to look in your manual for which terminals to hook up a remote switch at.I can't help you there because there are so many models.Once found make your connections and you will also need to locate which parameter controls the switching funtion and change it to remote operation.Thats the best I can do from here.15 minute job at my shop.good luck .Dave
