Monitor Profiles?
Gentlemen (and ladies), as we get more into the digital age we are seeing more and more why we need to balance our monitors for proper color and brightness. I thought I would ask what everyone is using for the task. Has anyone done a comparison from one method or another?
At the same time, what printer is everyone using and are you getting the same results form what you see on screen to the finish print? |

Terrill,
I put a piece of white paper next to the monitor. Then open something with a white background. Then adjust. I was amazed recently when switching monitors. I was blacking-out an area of a photo on my work monitor (which is a high-priced model). Then I took the photo home and noticed that I could still see loads of detail in the shadows!? What was black on one monitor was different on another. I'm now a big believer that the monitor you are using (and adjusting it) might well be as important as your camera (OK that's an exaggeration, but you catch my drift.) No I try to adjust for color and contrast and brightness. It would be swell to have a precise JPG for adjustments. Like we used to use in film. You know a color chart and a 10 zone grey card. Do you know where to get one? Steve |
