New hunting hatchets in the works
Forged a batch of hunting hatchets a couple of weeks ago, but classes kept me from working on them. Forged out a total of 8.......5 are "W" pattern with 1080 "bits", and 3 are mild steel bodies with 1080 "bits". All are fairly small in size.....and should fit nicely into a day/hunting pack.
Here's a close up of a couple of the Damascus ones..... After Church yesterday I just couldn't stand it any longer....... I finished out one of the damascus heads, gave it a coat of clear Gun-Kote, and put a gave it a nice Bocote Burl handle. Now I've gotta track down some Ash or Hickory for handles for the "plain" ones....which should be a trick here in Montana.....since either is considered "exotic hardwood" around here! __________________ WWW.CAFFREYKNIVES.NET Caffreyknives@gmail.com "Every CHOICE has a CONSEQUENCE, and all your CONSEQUENCES are a result of your CHOICES."
