I got my issue today. Great coverage!!!
Congrats to all the guys who particpated.

Coop, having all the pics come from you definitely gave an overall bump to the quality of the 6 page story.

On a slightly down note, for some odd reason they have no pics of the entry made by my friend Kelly Carlson, who tied for first place in the contest (There was a small sidebar preview to this story a few issues back, which did show Kelly's knife...but it was only a tiny little photo).

That aside, it's a really great article. Wonderful closure to an inspired (and generous) concept from Gabe.

Thumbs up SIX Pages!!! ???

WOW! Well, thanks once again to Buddy for completing this thread with a full compliment of pages on the article. This was my first read...

...and read it well! Buddy, your commentary is simple, yet engaging, and covers the interest beyond what I normally expect out of a magazine article. Clearly the highpoints are the knives, but the text *really* brought a sense of fun and largeness to the project. There was exceptional talent involved in every aspect of this entire project!

Gabe, your conversation with your wife is the crowning moment of the article. This was too much fun!

Thanks again. What a priviledge.

Coop

I agree it was unfortunate that Kelly's entry was not included in the article. In this case the editor (not me!) decided which images to include (he also created the title of the article, wrote the captions and the catchy section headings).

The reality is that no magazine will publish anything that is a duplication of something previously published. I don't know how BLADE came into posession of Coop's image of Kelly's entry - but they did and that is the 'some odd reason' for its absence from the article.

WOW!!!!
Nice contest, Gabe!

That was a fantastic article in this month's Blade ...
Buddy wrote a great recap of the event, and Jim's photos looked really great!!!! I'm totally proud of you guys!!!!

I can't wait to see everyone in Atlanta next week!

Alex

(edited to add ... I'm sure everyone just realized that I got my Blade a few minutes ago. I didn't realize that they couldn't get all of the work included. Either way, I think everyone should have a big smile about right now. You guys are soooo talented!)

Great article Buddy. Thanks for the scans since I probably won't get my copy until after I leave for Blade. Thanks again also for the hard work on the article and puting us out there.
