Polarizing filter?

Do any of you find a polarizing filter helpful in knife photography? I don't have one yet but plan on making the purchase for my new camera. It seems to me that it might be helpful for knife photography. I'd like to hear from those more experienced.

Fred, I've thought about that too ... the concept is correct, but you never know what the result will be until you see someone's work who is using it. I'm too cheap to be the Guinea Pig

I use a polarising filter frequently, but not often for knives.

A polariser will often cut down on unwanted reflections and enhance colour saturation, but it won't cut out reflections on shiny metal.

Fred, I love using one for scenic photography but don't find it helpful for knives.
First you will loose anywhere from 1/2 to 1 1/2 stops in your expposure. Second, you can get a color shift on the subject.
I've found that the best way to kill the glare is to change the angle of my lights.
