Knife picture
Please find below a picture of a knife that I just finished. The blade is a 9-3/4" skinner purchased from TKS. The guard, pommel is made from 3/8"x3/4" nickel barstock. The spacers are black and nickle silver. The scales are dymondwood. Contructive criticism appreciated. Thanks, Mike Sorry about all the editing, I was have problems posting the pictures! Mike |

Thanks Darrell, I put a lot of hours into it. I wish the photos would have turned out better. I was thinking about building a shadow box to help improve picture quality. Thanks, Mike |

Mike, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with that knife, your harrd work shows. If you want to take better pictures you should stop by the Photo Forum here at CKD. There's a bunch of folks over there that can help. Check 'em out. |

Re: knife picture
####, all I see is attention to detail! The bolsters and spacer material are not something I tried until I started grinding my own blades. Everything lines up and has a nice clean look. Just keep doing what you are doing. Chris |

Re: knife picture
Thanks Chris! I ordered some AST34 from Admiral Steel a few days ago. I plan on building another knife as soon as it comes in. Not sure of a design yet, but I will come up with some thing. I don't have any equiment capable of hollow grinding, so it will probably be alot of filing and sanding. I was thinking of going with the stablized wood for scales, and probably going with a design simular to what I did with the skinner. I really like the look of the nickel silver on the butt of the tang, and the nickel silver spacers. Mike |
