Working carbon fiber?
I just ordered my first kit, Got the DDR II CF g10 kit. How is the carbonfiber worked? Can it be sanded? Polished? Cut and drilled? I know nothing about carbon fiber! |

I just finished my first carbon fiber DDR-II (see posts on this forum) Overall, the material is easy to work with. You can sand it, grind it, file it, pretty much anything. If you're using a power tool go real easy as this stuff can grind down faster than you think. Make sure you're wearing mask and resperator...although not toxic, carbon fiber is a skin irritant. I found the toughest part to be the finishing work however, if you work your way through the sandpaper grits (400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000-at auto supply stores) using some "elbowgrease" to get out all of those flaky streaks and finish with Plastic Polish (great one by 3M), you can wind up with a really gorgeous finish with a lot of clarity. Good luck, you're going to be real pleased with the finished product! Dennis |

the times I have worked with CF I have either given it a 400 handrubfinish....gives a good grip or have had it beadblasted...real good grip and nice feel.....DON`T BREATH IT!! |

Attention All of the dust from any wood , carbon fiber, micarta, g10, pearl are very bad for you to breath! Wear a resperator. Cover your skin. BEWARE. |
