Your defenders of the freedom, the American way & the Constitution

I wasn't going to post these but with all the bad news lately I was thinking everyone needed a laugh, even at my expense.

This past Drill Weekend my Reserve unit had a ceremony which honors those who were part of the founding of a unit. These people are known as Plankowners from in the days of wooden ships the original crew could request a piece of the ship when it was decommissioned. Now this is neither an official title nor an official ceremony so the Navy has a tendency to go the other way. One qualification, most of the photos were a bit dark so I (not being a camera expert) lightened them up so please excuse the colors, etc.

Here is our emcee extraordinaire (a Navy Chief & former Marine):

A study in excitement:

Our Side persons:

Yours truly at his Navy best:

Our CO loafing while the XO does all the work with the help of the Command Chief (typical):

Here’s a few of the people’s walk across the plank for their certificate.

First Chief had to set the bar high and does it backwards:

Don’t ask, don’t tell (PLEASE!!!!):

What is it with women & cigars?:

Don’t forget the emcee:

My LPO does Michael proud with his Moonwalk:

Our CO is so out of here:

This was a crude, lewd, rude, and totally disrespectful ceremony. In other words it was a blast.

Hope you liked it,
Jim

Hi Jim!

Thanks for the chuckles.

It looks like a good time was had by all (even your CO).

Cheers!

David

Jim, you're fortunate to have your friends close enough to enjoy that.

All my friends from my army days are scattered all over or dead by now.
