Bolo vs Bola

Is there a difference, or perhaps just alot of wrong usage out there? I searched forums and google and seem to come up with similer looking knives along with the rope throwing things and the string ties.

the word has many meanings, you need to define what you are looking for.i.e. a cookie is something you eat,in england it is a biscut,or a bit of info on the computer.try adding knife to the search.

I think you were right in your assumption about wrong usage and that there is no difference in the knives so named. That same thing happens to Cocobolo wood which is sometimes called Cocobola. But, there are many knives called 'bolo' just as there are many called 'bowie'. You'll probably be able to identify some basic characteristics (like a wide blade with lots of forward weight) but maybe not much specific style beyond that......
