Keith,
IMO that particular scribe design is overly complicated. At this point, the best price you could get on it would be $31 plus shipping if no one else bids. A new one is $40 from Jantz plus shipping. This one is a better deal: http://www.knifemaking.com/product-p/js304.htm It is $30 plus shipping and is less trouble to use. I use one of this design, just slide some feeler gauges between the brass body and the carbide pin to set the distance. Even knowing that the screw on the other one moves .032 per revolution doesn't help you know exactly where to set the scribe if you need some spacing less than .032 from where it is currently set so, once again, you need the feeler gauges. Seems simpler to me to just skip the screw and save a few bucks .... |

Yeah I'm sure you're correct, shipping from jantz was 10 bucks if I remember correctly got a few things left to sell from my jaunt in this hobby.......ATLAS mini forge, and a new 1 1/2 motor that goes from standard electric to 3 phase with the digital VSC. The two are already wired together, I'll even throw in a pulley.........lol Freight is gonna be killer on that thing!

Sorry Keith, I was trying to advise you on buying that scribe, didn't understand that you were selling it. I wish you didn't feel like you had to bail out but we'll help any way we can if that's what you want to do. Have you got an auction on that motor and VSC or at least a picture?
I just shipped an entire Grizzly grinder for about $50 so I wouldn't think your motor and controller should be any more than that if you package it carefully ... |

Keith, sorry to hear you are getting out of the knifemaking! I actually bid on your scribe yesterday, but was not the winner. Hope you still pop in to the chat on occasion!

Yeah I saw that Tony, thanks. This guy was prepared to bid 57.99 for it. He bid twice so ebay includes that in the mail they send me......like saying, "This is what you could have gotten had he been bid against".........lol I plsn on being there for a few tomorrow night.

It's like this Kev, ,=my manual dexterity is not good enough to hold a straight grind line. Not too upset about it though, just one of those things I have to accept as life and move onto something else.
