Bainite?
What can you tell me about bainite and how it pertains to knives and swords? Pros vs cons? How would one do this using ten series steel?Thanks. McAhron

Here's a thread at swordforum all about bainite, there's others too if you search there. Bainite it a big buzword over there because of the Howard Clark differentially hardened matrinsite/bainite katanas. Generally speaking it's tougher but less edge holding. With 10xx steels it's almost impossible to do bainite because they require such a fast quench.

Thanks Awp. I have read that and many other articles today on bainite and have decided not to pursue the matter any further.McAhron
