Demagnetize my blade?

First of all I just want to say hi to everyone been a long time since I visited and I'm glad to see the site is running strong.

I like most of us here love to experiment with new ideas. So I decieded that I wanted to make a pocket sheath for my small fixed blade. I made it so that it would clip to my pocket in the same place that I would normally clip my folder. Instead of using a metal clip I used two magnets, one on a flap for the outside of my poket and one on the side of the sheath for it to grab....hard to explain... Works great. Now I can carry a fixed blade with the same discretion as a folder.

Anyhow the only problem is that my knife is now magnatized. Always picking up stray bit of metal which is annoying. How can I demagnitize it?

Of course this means I'll have to go to a clip if I want it to stay demagnetized.

The blade is of S30V if that makes any difference.

Thanks all...

The proper term is degauss. They do make machines for this but you could probably find plans to make one yourself. Do a computer search.

You might try a good jewely store that does watch repair. Ask them if they can demagnitize it for you. Older watches with the completely mechanical movement would sometimes get magnitized. My dad and I would take them to a jeweler who hac a gizmo to degauss the watch. They'd work great until I'd magnitize them again.....
