Ultra High Carbon Laminte steel ??

Hello All

Got a question. Im in search of a ultimate chefs steel.

My question is this.

If I take say 1084 powder, and add powdered graphite, will it raise the carbon content?
If so, what % graphite to add?

For a sheath material in the laminate, would mild contstruction grade steel be ok? Or would I be better off using somthing like brake drum turnings? Or 4600E powder? Does 4600E have enough nickle to be rust resistant?

Should I add a layer of nickle between the two to prevent carbon migration? Would it effect the outer material enough to negate the "soft outer steel" effect?

I understand that this will have problems with being too hard and chipping, but this will be a slicing and dicing knife, not a chopper.

I know this may sound a bit crazy, but it is nagging me, and want to give it a try!

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks and God Bless
Mike
