MS again

Hi!
This time I'll show you two sheaths for MS Knives that I've done this week. When I work with his knives I must be very careful because they are absolutely very sharp (every time my hands are shaking).

What color dye did you use on the brown sheath? Very nice work.

Nice work, very cleanly done. Like the throat treatment.

As Steel Addict comments, the throat treatment is a quality finishing touch. Are these sheaths lined? Is that a "French seam"? In fabric, that is just a seam with the stitching hidden. Or is this just a shaped roll using the sheath leather with color added afterward? However you did it, the effect imparts a high level of pride and craftsmanship. I would like to use your idea in my own sheaths and holsters, should you decide to impart the technique.
Thanks for the pics,
Kurt

Hello Kurt.
basically it's not my technique but my mentor Paul Long. If you want some knowledge of this,... please contact with him. I must say,... is worth it.
For me, Paul is a master of sheathmaking and Himself will do it better. Somewhere in google I saw his tutorial and of course you may buying his DVD - I recommend!

best regards
Sly

The throat treatment appears to be sewn rough out to the front then rolled over the top leaving the finished side up and secured with a second row of stitching underneath. Leaves a nice finished edge. I have never done one this way as most of my stuff are period pieces. I have seen Paul do this a lot and always liked it.

If you are worried about the sharpness of the knives when working with them, you can tape the edge so you don't have to worry about getting cut.
