Why the ring around the inlay

I just finished this one and put the picture over on the display case but noticed again that I have a dark ring around the inlay. In real life there is a very small area of dark around the inlay but nothing like it shows up on the picture. Why does this happen and how do I fix it.
Thanks
Steve

I'm suggesting that the flat area of the pearl and the polished metal is so highly reflective that it makes that ever-so-small gap and end of the pearl look much larger than it would appear by the human eye.

The lighting appears to be nearly directly overhead. I would see what an angled back appearance looks like.

You need to either color correct the photo or camera or start out with different lights. The knife metals looks pink.
