THE GOAT KILLER (Made at Trackrock)

I went to the Hammer-In today at Trackrock and thanks to a wonderful girlfriend buying raffle tickets for the Iron In The Hat that I assumed I wasn't gonna win anything from I wound up the owner of a few pieces of steel to work. And thanks to the kindness of a man named Paul (I can't remember his last name) I had a forge and anvil to work with. Paul, Carl (C Rex) and a man named Mark all guided me through getting the blade worked out and doing everything I needed to do. Carl also named the blade as I could NOT think of a better name for it. It was inspired by some blades I saw in the Fiddleback Forge stable and one of Carl's blades. I figured it would do well for me to take those and add my own touch. I also saw a knife with a solid steel handle, no scales and felt like that would go well with what I was trying to do. It was a TON of fun and I enjoyed all of it. Paul was also kind enough to temper my blade and do the grind so I didn't ruin hours of hammering going ham on a tool I didn't know how to use. I can NOT thank Paul, Carl and Mark enough for the time they donated to me and Paul especially for going above and beyond the call of duty with his time, energy and resources. Great group of people, I couldn't have had a better day of it.

Brach Brach for those that know him well.
Glad you had a good time at TR, that's why we do the event. Had lots of kids as well as younger adults get to try a little fire & steel fun. Was a great weekend and a pretty well behaved crowd. I hold this event just so I can watch the young folks "light up" when they find they can actually do something with their opposing thumbs besides working an I-pad or Gameboy.

It's good friends like Paul (Brach Brach, Johnny, Scott, Brad, Russ, RLo, Capn Randy, The "other" Scott, String Bean Jim and a whole host of others that make the event what it is. This was # 28 by the way!

We managed through everyone's generosity to hand over $1000 and some change to the Super Ben Project and help a young man and family in need. Thanks everyone.

Now go out and get some goats!
