Stabilizing woods at home

Hello, I am newbie and have been going over all the posts for a few weeks now, wanted to thank everyone for all the great advise.
I was wondering if any had ever tried a food sealer machine to
draw all the air out of wood and if so what type of sealer or stabilizer would work, how about minwax hardener ?? these type of machines with their special bags seem to apply a lot of suction. I may be way off here but just a idea I had.

PS: I have caught the knifemaking bug and lay awake sometimes at night coming up ideas and plans in my head, I think I'm addicted....Thanks all, Jeff
