New belts for KMG

I Just got my KMG working. I had some belts left over from my Grizzy. I used them but most had poor tracking. I figured they had been stretch or effected by the KMG. I order new belts. Just a couple. I got the Orange Norton Blaze for rough grinding. It tracks HORRIBLY !! I switched it around the other direction and no change. What belts work best with the KMG ? I have a couple of Gator and they seem to be fine . I just need some roughing and in between belts.

thanks

Dave

I can understand the Grizzly belts, maybe, as they seem to be a little longer than everybody else's belts but Norton belts shouldn't be a problem. To answer your question directly, ANY quality 2x72" belt should be fine on your KMG.

Order some belts from Tru-Grit and see how they do, try the Norton 60 Hogger. If that doesn't fly, there's something not right with that machine and you should talk to Rob Frink about it....

Tension

You may not have enough tension on the belt. Make sure that you keep the release pressed all the way down and pull the tool arm all the way out tight. Then secure the tool arm. Then release the lever. Takes a bit of muscle . Some guys have made extensions to increase the lever arm (No muscles- said in Arnold's voice)

I believe the Orange belt is a Hogger 60 I am referring too. I have them TIGHT and wondered if it was TOO tight but I saw Rob say it cant be too tight . I had had good look with the Orange "hoggers' before thats why I got it. I normally push down on the lever and pull out on the arm to tighten it.Tighten the arm then let go of the lever. I didnt get any instructions with mine ! LOL OH and I buy only from TruGrit

I have had horrible tracking probs with Orange Norton Blaze as well. I thought I read somewhere that there was a bad batch of them but can't remember where I read it , it was one of the forums.

Hi Dave, I would give Rob a call and see if he can walk you through any troubleshoot steps necessary, I have never found a belt, no matter how nice or crappy, that didn't eventually track fine on the KMG.
