The Blade Show is looming!!!!

First part is for the collectors:

What, if anything are you looking for specifically?

What trends (designs and/or materials) do you want to see?

Makers,

What are you bringing to the show and why?

This will come as no surprise.... forged bowies and large camp knives are my primary target. Carbon steel blades primarily in the 9" to 11" range. Nice stag or premium wood for the handles (translation, anything but fiddleback maple - I'm real good and tired of that). I like the knife to be fitted with a ferrule. Fossil ivories are also good and aren't just for damascus anymore.

After that, hunters. Same deal - carbon steel and top notch natural handle materials. I like matched sets, so if someone has a bowie / camp with a companion hunter in the same materials I will be giving it a close look. Burt Foster does up a real nice package with a single custom leather sheath to house both knives.

I will be looking for makers that make awesome damascus, and talk to them. Trends I want to see: mosaic damascus. So far I've circled all of the damascus makers I am familiar with on my little table listing, and I'll see them first (probably take the entire first day or longer to talk to them), and then look around for people I haven't heard of for the rest of it.

HI Larin,

Sounds like a good plan. You may want to bring a note book.

Thanks for reminding me, I always seem to forget one of those. Though really, I just want to get to know the mosaic damascus makers a little, and see what they are currently making. I can talk to my dad about how to make it whenever I want. I mean, I'm sure I can learn something about making it from talking to them, but I haven't made any before, so I can't get a lot out of talking to them right now.
