who sells wood charcoal???

I'm having trouble finding a supplier for wood charcoal. I've tried Walmart, Atwoods, local grocery stores, and just about anywhere else I go, I look for it, all for nothing. I've found it online, but the shipping is more than the charcoal. Ideas?

thanks

Since you didn't post your location, answering the question becomes difficult.

WalMart sells it here. I just bought some last week. May be a regional thing, as this stuff is made from mesquite.

You can, of course, make wood charcoal by heating wood in a container so that no oxygen gets in. Make sure the container is vented.

I know you didn't think it made a difference, but hopefully my less-than-subtle hint has convinced you otherwise.

Now, anyone near Wichita know where Tito can get some charcoal??

See if your Wal Mart carries Cowboy Hardwood charcoal. That is the brand name. It is made from hickory. Will put out plenty of heat and ingnites easily.

Lowes also carries Cowboy Hardwood Charcoal. The one here tends to keep about 40 bags on hand at any time. It's what I have been using.

Thanks everyone. Lowes had it alright. No wonder I'd never seen it there, it's over by the lawn care equipment--not my favorite isle. I hate yard work.

Yeah, they hide it in my lowes, it is under the shelves out of the way. Glad you found it.

Bill,

That one and the one on Eagle both stock it, I have bought from both. Last time I called I was hoping to get a discount on a pallet, but they didn't give discounts, however, they did say they try to keep about 40 bags on hand. To find it, go to the lawnmowers in the store and look on the floor under the shelves, last time I was there it was in the middle by the mesquite chips. Brown paper bags.

I am not the fastest, but I pounded out 4 blades in about 1/2 bag, so I am pretty happy with the burn time and heat from this (first chainsaw damascus I tried, I let my attention wander and melted the billet).

thanks Carl,I need to get about ten or twelve bags. There is a little hardware store up here in Idaho city that I can most likely get a palletfor about twelve bucs a bag. What does it cost at Lowes?

Under $5 a bag. These are the 8lb bags, not the 20lb bags. If he can get the pallet for $12 for the twenty pound bags, that's a good price.
