JackAsh Custom Shop. Great exotic wood scales.

Just happened on to your forum. I spent about a half hour browsing around and you already have me plotting to build a knife. Great board you have going here.

I decided I might introduce myself and let you folks see some wood scales that I have which might be of interest to you.

I am actually an active contributer on several firearms discussion forums similar to this. My Brother in Law and I have been making custom 1911 grips for a while and recenly started our own website. We just picked up some fantastic woods and cut them in to scales that were/are intended for making grips for 1911 pistols. I think you folks would find that the size of the scales could be useful for your projects.

The wood is not stabilized but most of it is so dense that stabilization probably wouldn't get into it anyway. My wood supplier said that especially with the Australian Gold Field Burls there is no need to stabilize. Anyway take it for what its worth.

The scales in the pictures are sanded lightly and coated with a thin coat of tung oil. We did this with the idea that it brings out a better idea of what your finished product might look like with a particular scale.

Check out the link. I'll stop back by soon to answer any questions. Thanks!
