I'm not sure there is a "best" grind. I am sure that everyone has his or her own opinion. For me, it depends on the intended use of the knife. For regular hunting knives, folders, and light-duty knives, I like the hollow grind. For larger hunting knives and bowies, I like the flat grind. For camp knives that will be used for chopping, I like the convex grind. I've always thought of chisel grinds when I hear the word "tanto".
It all comes down to what the intended use is for the knife. As the maker, you are free to suggest to your buyer whatever grind you wish, but ultimately it's up to the buyer what they want. If they want a 18" camp knife with a hollow grind, make them one. Same goes for if they want a 3" folder with a chisel grind. They key is to give the customer what they want, but educate them as much as possible first.
