What Are These Made Of?

Maybe someone can answer this ? I work in petro-chem plants
where we use an air saw, the blades are made by FEIN or FIEN
of germany.Heres the deal i have burned up carbide bits trying
to drill pin holes in it . They will grind o.k. and will take and hold a great edge . They are flexable butt hardddd !!!!

anybody got an ideal?
HAS ANYONE SEEN OR TRIED USING THEM

That could be a hard question to answer. For what the blades are being used for, I would make a guess that they are L-6 or super L-6, which is 15N20. Both steels are made for very high heat tolerance and are work hardened type steels. As you have mentioned, it is very hard to drill pin holes. Try some of the solid carbide bits and be sure to have the work backed up, when drilling.
