They really need to buy an icepick...

Seriously, steel does become more brittle when cold, but it's a matter of percentages. It's too late to test the point on this knife but I'm reasonably confident ice would not meaningfully affect it. 3V has about 5 times the lateral toughness of anything Buck has ever used in their knives, maybe more.

Love it!!!
There certainly is a Hossom knife in my future. Gorgeous work.I've long favoured double edged blades for "tactical" purposes. And I also have come to favour 3V. But the potential for corrosion damage is a big drawback for me because I like to take some of my knives kayaking and canoeing places where I can't clean and dry my blades for quite a few hours at a time.
What about blade coatings? Is that a possibility?
