seax
A buddy is wanting me to help him out making a seax. so I figured id try one out first. found one online I liked the shape of. printed it out and changed the sixe by running it through photo copier. I cut out templates for a 4", 7", and 9" version... grabbed a chunk of some 1084 and went out to the shop to play. started cutting out the blades about 8:00- 8:30p.m......... next thing I know its 9 a.m.
the 4" was left as just the shaped blank. this one is what ill be working on step by step while my buddy is making his. I rough ground the 7", and 9" versions, and then focused on the 7" handle is bocote, with walrus ivory spacer, and brass guard and pin. hand engraved signature on the spine of the blade |

The shape of the handle gives it a bit of a modern flair but it is a nice looking knife. Did you clay quench the blade?

Amazing what one can do in a night. Rumpelstilzkin has nothing on you! (remember, he spun a barn full of straw into gold overnight...) Nicely done. I love the walrus.

I am an admitted seaxophile, and I have to say you did a very good job keeping the spirit of the originals and adding a modern flare with the handle.

Good stuff Damon! The handle flows real well and looks comfortable. Im digging on everything you've done with it. Can't wait to see pictures of the larger one when you get it done!
