I bet you are having a great time! I have been to two classes at GRS. One at the old location, and one this past May in the new location. You are correct you learn a ton and do not know where the time flies! Unfortunatly Friday will be here before you know it and you will wonder how the week went so quick!

The GRS people are great folks. I have dealt with Aaron and he has been nothing but helpful. Shane is a great guy as well and was kind enough to help me on his own time showing me some techniques one evening. Lets see this is Wed. so you have the dinner and product demo. I am sure they will have the gentleman who makes and engraves knives there as he is a family friend of GRS. He does great work and he does definitly inpire you to new heights in your work.

Have a great time and take a lot of notes!

Well, the week of classes is over, and how was it? Did you learn everything you wanted to learn? Send some photos of your endeavors, and the classrooms. I am sure you really had a great experience. Everyone I've ever met who's gone to GRS has only had good things to say. Myself included. Many go back many times.

Returned home on the 31th, from the engraving class at GRS. What a pleasant experience. The new facility there is something to behold! All the folks at GRS, are very professional, and do there best to make your time there, a very enjoyable one!
All of the students did very well, and I kept telling them, that Wed., they would all be engravers. I don't think they believed me at first. It takes about 16-20 hours of looking through the scope, to get your hand, eye, and foot coordination down. You could see gaint leaps in there work, from Monday evening, to Thursday morning. Great group of guys to work with, friendships was made that will last a life time.
I would highly recommend one of the various classes that GRS provides, to anyone wishing to learn how to engrave. It will save you years.

Well I'm home from the class and still wondering how in the world Steve could teach me as much as he did. I am copying over my notes, and still can't believe how much ground we covered. I'm REALLY thrilled with the whole week. I can't recommend it enough. I took some pictures of the new classrooms, and will try to post them. I also made friendships that will last me a lifetime.

And I have to say, when Steve said we would be engraving by Wednesday, I thought to myself, "he doesn't know me." But I can honestly say that the practice plate I made on Wednesday pleased me, and Thursday I decided to scratch on the guard of a knife I brought with me. With some help from Steve, (didn't stop to think that it wasn't flat like the practice plates), I finished it Friday, and I'm happy with it.

So many thanks to Steve, GRS , and all the other students, for a week that will not be forgotten.

By the way, the package I got from GRS before the class was exceptional. It included all the class info, directions from all four points, things of interest in Emporia, all the hotels and package deals that were available. I was treated like a rich uncle by everyone there the whole time I was there. Lynda Schreck must have called me a dozen times prior to my going to make sure all of my questions were answered. What a week!!!

Almost forgot! Steve brought us all some gold, and taught us how to inlay it. Did I forget to mention what a great guy he is??

Wow, that sounds like a blast!! That is on my list of things to do for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's got me all fired up and wanting to go do it now!
