restored 19th century engraving
Here is a picture of some lockplates I recut as part of a total restoration job. These are for a mid 19th century percussion double shotgun.
When I got these from the polishers, some of the engraving was almost gone, but most of it was around 50% or so. I have to recut it and make it appear as original as I can. I thought the animlas were interesting, as far as the type of cuts used to create them. The scroll was interesting too. Might be worth trying to clean it up and modernize it a bit! Thanks for looking, Tom Last edited by gravertom; 07-16-2005 at 08:45 PM. |

hi tom .. thanks for posting these photos .. at times recutting original engraving can be a real challange i have done a couple in my days . one of the problems that i have run into is with the customer is they think you should only cut the faded lines and dont realize that you must recut the whole job .. ron
