What a wonderful opportunity and experiance to be had. One thing I noticed while looking at the photos of the school, and of the Master working, theres not a single microscope to be seen? Now that is impressive.

Hello Julie,
That is a good point. They use 10x jewelers loops for there bulino that is all. The only italian I know that uses a microscope is Stephano Pedretti. __________________ jason |

To Jason & Chris,
I am familiar with the beautiful work you both have done on guns. Also I would like to compliment you on going out of your way to go to Italy and to continue studying. I am curious what do the Italians think of our power assist tools? I know they are still using hammer, chisel and hand tools. Also would like to know about the vises that they use, and where I can buy one? Does the Master still go to the quarry for the saw blades to make his tools? Keep passing on your knowledge for you will learn it that much better yourself, and keep up the good work. Yours truly, JJ Roberts-Manassas, VA |

there's nothing special about not having a microscope in an engraving or stone faceting shop. for hundreds of years children have been chosen for those fields , specifally those who have extreme myopia. their own eyes are the magnifiers and if additional magnification was needed a simply lens was used.
