Falconhawk, I have a small handcranked lathe that I finally found out was for use in the auto industry. It was used for turning down armatures. Don'tknow if this is what you are looking for or if it would work.

Sorry, I haven't been back since I posted. I see there is a private message for me but have not been able to retrieve it.
I will try to describe it. First off, no jaws, it uses collets to hold the work. Approximately 1 foot long and extends about 3 or 4 inches. It seems very accurate on the adjusment for the tailstock aspect. Somewhere I have a picture of a similar one I found on ebay, I will try and find that. I don't have a digital camera and the one I have borrowed in the past is not very good. Trading is the way for me. Let me get more info to you though. ghostdog |

Lathe
Ghostdog,
Sounds good can you tell if it would be possible to replace the collet system with jaws? I like trade/barter! Falconhawk __________________ The differance between custom work and production is the soul that is imparted by the maker. The Samuri knew this........... |

I found the image of the one from ebay. It is not the same but similar. I am going to go and put it up on my site so I can link to it from here.

Here is the one from ebay. Mine is slightly more sophisticated in the tail stock area, having more and better adjustments. My collets are shorter than the ones in this picture. I think mine is bigger too but having no reference point I won't swear to it.
I have to leave town in the morning (wednesday) will not be back until Friday morning or late Thursday night. Personally I think this little lathe could do a lot of small work if a guy was in no big hurry. I have not used it. If you are still interested let me know what you would like to trade. I am in Canada, west coast. ghostdog |

Hey ya Ghostdog,
all I have to offer is labor at this time, We have gone through some pretty tough times this past few months including a car wreak the first of this month. However, ck your e-mails as I made you a proposition there that you may be interested in. Just let me know. Would also be willing to take on some engraving projects for you in exchange if you are interested in that! But hey, we have time Falconhawk __________________ The differance between custom work and production is the soul that is imparted by the maker. The Samuri knew this........... |

lathe chuck
Ghostdog, From looking at the lathe picture you posted , the collets look to be the C-type collet. The chucks are available for a C- Type holder. Although collets are more precise and cheaper. Just thought this might help you guys.

Hey,
Don't know if you ever got the lathe in the mail or not but as of this date I still have not received it. Maybe you could let me know so I can try to check into it.
