I finally made a folder!

I've been working on these on and off for a while now. I finally got one finished. This is my second folder to date and it's the first one I've made in my own shop. I took a class with my good friend and mentor,MS Jon Christensen a few years ago and made my first one there in his shop. I also wanted to say thanks to my other good friends Bing and Ed Caffrey. These three guys really helped me out with getting these folders underway.

Nothing revolutionary or groundbreaking here. I just wanted to make a nice straightforward, practical, working/utility folder. This one is light and slim but still plenty stout for a folder.

Specs:
80CrV2 steel
7" open, 4" closed, 2 7/8" of actual sharp edge, .114" thick
Full distal taper in the blade
Blade has a 800 grit hand sanded finish
Rounded spine
Black g-10 scales
.060" thick titanium liners, jeweled
3/16" hardened steel pivot with titanium pivot screws
Titanium handle scale screws
Good, solid lockup and strong detent retention

Any and all comments, questions, critique and opinions welcome.

Awesome John! Now for the bad news.......YOUR HOOKED! Folders are the one type of knife that will just plain "drive" you.....just when you think you've got them all figured out, some "little" thing pops up and drives you to make another.

Seems like I go in "spurts" when it comes to folders......won't make any for a while, then get the bug and make a bunch....and by the time I have that bunch done I'm usually pulling my hair out (well figuratively) fixing "bugs". And the cyle just keeps repeating itself.....that's what I mean by "drive".

As Ed just said. Just when you think you got it. Something else will rare it head and say nope you need to go back and start over!!!!!! Love to folder you did here pal it has a certain John Doyle look to it as well. Thanks for the tip on the makers mark as well. I going to try that on the one I'm working on.

Bing

Loving this, John. I agree with Bing-a certain John Doyle feel to it. I very much look forward to seeing more of these and am willing to bet a LOT of people will like them .

Out of curiosity, what type of stop pin did you use? Is it behind the spine and the tang runs into it or is it a track milled out of the blade (if that makes sense...)?

Jeremy

Very nice, John. I really like the straight forward, strong, slim design of it. I only wish I had more time to attempt it myself!

As usual,nice job Sir.

Thanks guys. There are definitely more in the works.

Jeremy, it's a hidden stop pin with a track in the blade.
