2 small knives
Here are two small knives I just finished, the blade on the longer one is 2 inches long. It was made from a longer knife that warped after quenching, so I cut it down to size. The second one, the smaller one was to practice forging the bevels. Both have maple flooring scraps handles and lignum vitae guards. They will be handie around the shop. Thanks for looking.
Cheers Ron. |

Hi Ron,
Those look good Ron. I like the guards. What is lignum vitae? It looks like some nice material. Look ma, no gaps between the maple and the latin named guard stuff neither! Regards, Kurt |

The Wood of Life
Also known in some areas as Ironwood, as each area has a wood they call such. It's one of the most dense hardwoods we have if not the most dense. It's extremely oily, and has been used to make things such as various shafts and gears and such because it's self lubricating. Some info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lignum_Vitae |

Those are nice looking knives. They should be real handy for the shop or wherever you plan to use them. Either would make a nice neck knife.

Thank you for the kind words, I did not think of a neck knife, I will try a sheath for the smallest one.

The longer of the two resembles a "patch-knife", used by flintlock shooters to cut the cloth that they wrap around the lead ball. The smaller one would make a nice neck knife, maybe for a re-enactor or a black-powder firearm enthusiest. Nice work.
