Newbie from AR

I have lurked for a while, just thought I would make my first post.

I got hooked black smithing almost a year ago, built a coal forge and spent a few months making this and that and developing hammer skills. Next step was knives. I have started a few, scrapped a few and finished a few now. I have learned from each and and look forward to learning from all the ones yet to come.

Well now that I have broke the ice you can probably expect to be hearing more from me, most likely in the form of questions : ) .

No dumb questions, but a lot that get repeated. Always check with the "Search" feature first - it's the polite thing to do....
Welcome to the forRay! (had to throw that in Ray)

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I try to do my homework first before asking questions.

Ray - thanks for the invite to join the chat, I'll have to see if its past my bedtime LOL. At the rate I type I could drag it all to a halt : ).

Eddie,

It will be 5 pm to 8 pm Pacific, 8 pm to 11 pm Eastern and people drop in and out all night. Don't worry about typing speed, we get all kinds and often have two or three conversations running at the same time so speed isn't an issue ...

Eddie, welcome aboard! You are in the heart of knife forging country and should not try to miss the Arkansas Custom Knife Show in Little Rock next weekend, Feb 22-23. It is the best of the best of forged knives and you can meet all the great makers as well, as they are very approachable. Hope to see you there!

Ray - I tried to make it into the chat, but the Java Gods were not smiling on me LOL. I'll see if I can't get it figured out before next weekend.

Tony - I'd love to go to the LR show, but my wife is juding an art contest so I will be home with the kids. At least I can forge all weekend : ) . I scored a few antlers from my father n law and brother n law so in exchange I owe them each a knife. I'll get to practice and they get to be my field testers.

Eddie,

JAVA has been causing some problems for us lately but I have a small program that can be used instead. If you are on a Windows computer send me an email and I'll send you the program. For any other platform, do a google search for free IRC chat software that will run on your platform and I'll provide the configuration info for it. IRC is available for just about everything....
