Naw, if it's what you are used to, no need to change. If it works, it works. Just no real advantage to the additional temper cycles on 1084.
Kind of strange to get warpage on that thick a blade. Did you check your water tank for cold spots? There's always a reason, we just can't always "see" it.
Won't argue with Kevin on his figures, he knows his stuff. Not sure however, you can linerally interpolate Rockwell values. They seem to jump exponetially on the increase. (Of course my aged brain doesn't do math much anymore, so most likely wrong.)

The water wasn't heated so no cold spots. I'm thinking I just had it angled a bit when I quenched.

Yeah i don't know if hardness is linear with temperature. My hardness measurements said I was there so at least for this bar of steel its working ok.
