Photoresist Etching

Hey all,

After reading up on the various methods for etching/marking my knives, i've decided that I would like give photo-resist a try. Mainly due to the level of detail I should be able to achieve with it, and the ability to make my own stencils whenever I need too in various sizes.

I have a vector logo that I made with a DPI well over 600, and a high quality office laser jet printer to use, but im not sure where to go from here. I thought I read something about certain transparencies being better than others for a laser jet printer, and then there is the films (most i've found seem to be for sand blasting glass rather than metal, would a film for PCB boards work fine?). Resists and developers vary for different metals, and I will be making my knives out of 440C stainless to start out with.

Can someone point me in the right direction for films and the other supplies? Seems like most makers go the electro-etch route, rather than photo-resist, but I'd like to give photo resist a shot if I can. Thanks in advance for your help!

-Nick

Sorry man, it doesn't look like anyone on here knows anything about it. Most people use electro-etching because it isn't difficult and it's very effective.

I do a toner transfer method for my etching. It's a lot like photoresist but a little different, though it is used quite often for etching PCB's. Google it.
