According to Bob Gaddis, author of "Randall Made Knives", Bo Randall was inspired by his hunting and fishing friend Litch Steinman, and developed this neat little knife especially for him in 1946. The first versions "turned out so well that Bo decided to make it part of the Randall line."
I believe the "Trout and Bird" Model #8 first appeared in the 1947 catalogue, or there abouts.
